This task builds on the assignments the Coventry cohort investigated within the Making Workshop. Each of them are included here, and it is up to you to choose one for further investigation.
1. Choose and complete as many of the assignments the Coventry photography students completed in their Making Workshop as you want (you don’t have to complete all of them). This workshop was based on using Playbook assignments to explore different ways of “making” images. These are:
2. Reflecting on the way alternative ways of making can be investigated, make one of the images, or complete one of the assignments, again––this time using audio or video instead of still image. You may follow the steps of Eva Sutton’s Synesthesia (below), if this helps you translate your work into different media.
3. Write a brief critical rationale focused on substantiating the choices you have made at Step 3 (how you have translated it to a new media). This rationale will also focus on the ways in which this particular assignment may have helped you to understand different ways of making stories; identifying what you see as the key elements of audio-visual language for the new medium (like viewpoint and light are the key elements of photographic visual language).
Please make sure that you are critical in your rationale, and try to articulate how it might reflect in your practice. Reflect some of the things you have learned in the workshop
